Pregnancy Resource Act
Your business could be eligible for this new tax credit!
The Pregnancy Resource Act is an opportunity for businesses to redirect their Mississippi tax liability to invest in the life-saving work of pregnancy centers that serve women with an unexpected pregnancy. This law creates a DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR tax credit (not deduction) to businesses that make a voluntary cash donation to pregnancy resource charitable organizations (PRCO) such as the Starkville Pregnancy Care Center. The credit can be for as much as 50% of the business’ state income tax liability, insurance premium tax liability, or for non-corporations, real property ad valorem liability. The credit can carry forward for up to 5 years. There is a capped limit of $10 million in allocated funds for 2024. This will be very competitive as credits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis – applying early helps secure your credit while funds are available.
The PRCO application for 2024 must be filled out online. Simply go to tap.dor.ms.gov and click on Apply for Charitable Contribution Credit in the Apply Online Box. Then you will select PRCO (Pregnancy Resource Charitable Organization) as your charitable contribution credit from the drop-down menu and type in the year. From there you will be directed to fill in your business information.
As a Mississippi tax paying business, why not allocate that money you have to pay to something you are passionate about!
